Look what you have gone through! I told you you could make it. Isn't this topic a lot of fun? I assure you the following will be, too. If this is not your thing, simply go to the game sector. (It's on the top right corner) But remember, you can still come to this page any time you want and learn about AR.
If you still think AR is nothing related to your life, you are falling behind. Grab my hands and hold on tight! Let me introduce you to Augmented Reality...
Augmented Reality shows virtual objects in our real world.
This application that was released in 2016 allows players to capture Pokémon that are in front of their cameras.
Is the Pikachu in the screen real? Unfortunately, it is not.
So how did they make it appear on the phone screen? Augmented Reality.
AR, it is like adding extra things onto the real world.
Video's credit goes to Go to Magic (seriously)
Well I have to say, I was frightened by the giraffe.
But that is good, and you know why?
It is because the animals are made so realistically! Augmented Reality has brought these visitors a very special and cool experience and it is even said that this zoo is interactive.
The images are recorded to be displayed to the audience afterwards. A motion sensor helped do the work by projecting the animals to where the audience could see.
People could even hear the sounds made by the animals!
To be honest, the two are similar, and the history of them overlay.
In easier words, Augmented Reality (AR) adds digital element onto the reality. And Virtual Reality (VR) replaces the reality with something else.

According to Poetker, AR is rising every second and will be used even wider in the near future.
You probably haven't noticed, but a lot of what we are using uses this AR technique.
For instance, the measurement app in our phones, the filters that make things appear on our faces, the APP that allows us try our clothes on in stores, and so on are all AR.
Some hardware, however, still requires improvement. For example, the glasses cost $1000+, which is not accessible for everyone.
With that being said, now is the time where we wait patiently for the headsets to better.
As I mentioned above, AR is things added on the reality and VR is the replacement of reality.
AR , like VR, is also applied in many areas and it provides a new way of delivering 3D models. I mean, who doesn't like the fun filters bring?
AR is important to businesses because letting the customers feel engaged is the key to attracting more of them. By using this technique, companies can build stronger relationships with their customers. The same can be done with students like you.
1. Multi-sensory engagement ---- Students would most likely love learning experiences with sensory details. For example, an experience with touch or smell would be much more memorable than one without.
2. Intellectual engagement ---- Learning is about getting the information. AR can provide students with knowledge when made to do so.
3. Emotional connections --- Building an emotion connection is as important as a logical one when teaching. Right, kids? Wouldn't having an object in front of you be more interesting than having the object on a textbook?
Right now, there are many applications of AR, both software and hardware. Many of them are still in the process of developing. In the near future, it will be used more widely in education.
Kids, you are very privileged to have been born in this era, where the technology is prospering. Some advice I can give you is for you to try different types of technology. Both AR and VR are going to blow your mind.
Try on the shoes with your cellphone before actually buying them, play with the filters on your Snapchat, try out the AR games! (You still have to take care of your eyesight and sleep in early tho;)
Anyways, I will meet you in the next section!
